Gourds Stacked High on the Compass Rose at Hershey Garden

At the Pumpkin Festival in Hershey Garden, the harvest is built into a tower. Pumpkins and squash rise in tiers from a broad base of heavy orange globes to rows of yellow, green, and pale cream gourds, topped with a single bright red fruit. The display stands at the center of a painted compass rose, a wide green circle crossed by long orange points that seem to send the season outward along every path. Around the edges, the garden carries the theme further. Bundled corn stalks wrap two lamp posts, hay bales hold smaller pumpkin groupings, and beds of shrubs show rusty pink blooms. A white directional signpost waits at the right, while a green-roofed building curves into view on the left. Overhead, layered clouds break apart over patches of blue. It is a place to circle slowly and notice how many shapes and shades fit into one autumn display.
